Coming eventsThe Saluki women's basketball team hosts South Alabama Friday, Nov. 25, in a 7:05 p.m. game at the SIU Arena. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and kids. Student admission is free with a valid SIUC student ID. The football Salukis travel to Charleston to face Eastern Illinois in the first round of the Division 1-AA playoffs, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, at O'Brien Stadium. Tickets are available for in-person purchases at the Arena ticket office today, Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are also available through EIU at 217/581-2106. Tickets will also be available 1-and-one-half hours prior to kickoff Saturday at the stadium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children age 5 through college. SIU fans will be seated on the stadium's west side. The SIU Alumni Association is holding a pre-game tailgate prior to Saturday's football game. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., south of the EIU stadium parking lot. The menu includes barbecue sandwiches, potato chips and beverages. Cost to attend the tailgate is $10 per person. All fans interested in attending must RSVP with a credit card to the SIU Alumni Association office by calling 618/453-2408 by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. The Southern Glass Works annual Holiday Preview Sale provides a first chance to buy original glass art from faculty and students prior to the upcoming Student Center Craft Sale. The preview sale is from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 29 and Nov. 30, at 808 S. Forest St. Admission is free. William Iseminger, one of the world's foremost experts on the Cahokia civilization, presents a slide presentation on how Native Americans developed devices and techniques to track movements of the sun, moon, and stars to develop calendars. The presentation, Native American Astronomy, is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Student Center Illinois Room. The event is part of Native American History Month. The Boys Choir of Harlem, part of Shryock Auditorium's Celebrity Series, blends a choreographed mix of African-American spirituals, gospel, jazz and hip-hop. The performance is at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Shryock Auditorium. Tickets are $29; $23 for children 15 and younger and senior citizens 60 and older. Tickets are available at the SIU Ticket Office in the SIU Arena or the Student Center Central Ticket Office.
