NotableGlen P. Aylward, professor of pediatrics and psychiatry and director of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at the SIU School of Medicine, was recently elected to a one-year term as president of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP) at its annual meeting in Providence, R.I. Aylward is also a specialist at St. John's Children's Hospital in Springfield, a joint endeavor of SIU and St. John's Hospital. The SDBP is an international organization dedicated to improving the health of infants, children and adolescents through promoting research, teaching and clinical practice in developmental and behavioral pediatrics.
Dr. Penny K. Tippy, professor of family and community medicine and director of the SIU family practice residency program in Carbondale, was recently awarded the Rosemary Berkel Crisp Award at the 21st annual Southern Illinois Women's Health Conference at John A. Logan Community College in Carterville. The award, established in 1997, recognizes an exceptional woman of unselfish character and generous volunteerism who demonstrates great enthusiasm for the people of Southern Illinois.
Beth E. Dallas, a communications services specialist I with SIUC"s Information Technology, was recently elected to a one-year term on the INSIGHT100 Board of Directors. INSIGHT100 Inc. is an international telecommunications users group formed in 1985 for SL 100 switching product users to discuss concerns, applications and performance-related issues with Nortel. The independent association of Nortel SL 100 owners and users work together using active committees, vital listserves and conference forum. Members include representatives from educational, health care, military, government and corporate fields. Dallas is also a member of the SL100 Operations Group, a sub-unit of IT-Telecommunications Services.
