NotableA professional with 12 years of public relations experience has joined the SIUC Division of Institutional Advancement Department of Development Communication.
Stacey L. Vinson, a native of Vienna, has been hired as an editorial assistant and writer. She assumed her new role on Sept. 24. Vinson will assist the director of development communication in various aspects of communication for the SIU Foundation. Her duties will include writing and editing development publications, disseminating press releases related to the University's fundraising efforts and creating overall awareness of the advancement unit. "As a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, I am excited to join an institution that has played an important role in my life and in the Southern Illinois area," Vinson said. Vinson's experience includes serving as a director of public information and marketing at Frontier Community College in Fairfield from 2000 to 2005. She was a public relations administrative assistant at Shawnee Community College from 1993 to 2000 and print advertising coordinator for Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau in 2000. Additionally, Vinson was a part-time communications instructor at Frontier Community College in 2004-05, and has been a substitute teacher in Johnson County schools. Vinson earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication, with a major in public relations, from Southeast Missouri State University in 1992. She also received a master's in speech communication from SIUC in 2003
Two research papers by Wallace N. Davidson, the Henry J. Rehn Professor of Finance in SIUC's College of Business and Administration, are among the most downloaded papers on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). The paper entitled "CEO Compensation, Shareholder Rights, and Corporate Governance: An Empirical Investigation," was recently listed on SSRN's Top Ten download list for CGA: Governance & Executive Compensation. As of October, 2007, the paper had been downloaded 171 times. Davidson's paper entitled, "Earnings Management and Corporate Governance: The Roles of the Board and the Audit Committee," was listed on SSRN's Top Ten download list for CGA: Governance & Internal Control Systems (Topic), CGA: Role & Responsibilities of the Board (Topic), Corporate Governance & Accountability, SEIN Subject Matter Journals and Social & Environmental Impact Network.
