A film and discussion on the "Assault on Gay American," is at 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Student Center's Illinois Room. The event is part of GLBT History Month.

 

Emeritus Philosophy Professor David Clarke presents "Discourse Relativity and Pragmatism," at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, in Faner Hall, room 3059. The lecture is part of the Department of Philosophy's Colloquium Series. The event is free, and open to the public.

 

Eleven women share their experiences of life, love and mortality in the play, "Talking With," Thursday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 28, at the McLeod Theater. Performance times are 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults,$12 for senior citizens, and $6 for students. Box office hours are noon to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and one hour before each performance.

 

Rajdeep Sengupta of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis presents a lecture on "Entry and Competition in Credit Markets," at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in Faner Hall, room 4135. The lecture is part of the Vandeveer Speaker Series. Admission is free.

 

The SIUC women's volleyball team hosts Wichita State at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at Davies Gym. Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and kids. SIUC student tickets are free with a valid SIUC student ID on game day. Fans are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes for a costume contest during intermission.

 

"Community Floss," a local improv comedy group, presents a night of fun and laughs at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in Browne Auditorium, Parkinson Hall, room 124. The event is part of GLBT History Month.

 

The SIUC women's volleyball team hosts Missouri State at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Davies Gym. Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and kids. SIUC student tickets are free with a valid SIUC student ID on game day. The match is the 'Dig for the Cure' Breast Cancer Awareness game to raise funds for the Illinois Susan G. Komen organization. Fans are invited to wear pink. Pink shirts will be given to the first 50 fans through the door; the first 300 fans receive pink ribbons. Fans can pledge money per dig earned in the match or donate money. The money raised by each team goes directly to the Komen Foundation's local affiliate.

 

The SIUC Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Ron Coulter, a lecturer of percussion studies in the School of Music, performs at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Shryock Auditorium. Admission is free.

 

An open discussion on equality, "Super Queer in the State of the Union," featuring Amber Zimmerman, is set for 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, in the Student Center Auditorium. Admission is free. The event is part of GLBT History Month.

 

The Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra holds its annual Halloween Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Shryock Auditorium. The School of Music's Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Concert Choir and Opera join the symphony orchestra in its performance. Tickets are $15 general admission; $6 for students of all ages. The event is part of the Southern Illinois Symphony Series.
