Distance learning grant requests sought

Distance learning at SIUC offers departmental programs and courses for academic credit to traditional and non-traditional students who are either unable to attend courses on-campus or those who may require alternative methods of course delivery. In order to facilitate the availability of effective distance learning options, grants are available from the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor at SIUC. Grants are only available to faculty of SIUC. To be eligible, SIUC individuals and academic units must submit a proposal and be committed to delivering programs or courses to students at a distance. Further information and guidelines are available by clicking on the "Faculty Resources" link.

The review schedule will be as follows:

Preliminary proposals are due Oct. 20. Review of preliminary proposals should be completed by Dec. 15, and a small number of applicants will be asked to submit a final proposal. The deadline for submission of final proposals will be Jan. 26, 2007. A selection committee will review the final proposals. The recipient of the grants will be announced by April 6, 2007. It is anticipated that funds awarded will be available July 1, 2007. Questions may be directed to the Office of the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, Mailcode 4311, phone 536-6607, or Susan Edgren, Office of Distance Education, Mailcode 6705, phone 453-5659.
