Coming eventsThe SIUC theater department presents “The Highwayman,” a play written by graduate student Thomas Michael Campbell. The play runs Wednesday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Oct. 1, in the Christian H. Moe Laboratory Theater. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. for the Wednesday through Saturday shows, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, and $6 for children and SIUC students. Box office hours are noon-5:30 p.m. weekdays and an hour before each performance. The theater and box office are in the Communications Building on campus. Tickets are also available by phone at 618/453-3001.
Martin Perez, an alumnus of the SIU School of Law, will speak on immigration laws at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, in Student Center Ballroom D. The event is part of the 2006 Latino Heritage Month. Admission is free.
William H. Colby, the attorney who argued the first right-to-die case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court, delivers the 2006 Dr. Arthur Grayson Distinguished Lecture - "From Cruzan to Schiavo: Lessons Learned" - at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, in the SIUC School of Law's Hiram H. Lesar Law Building auditorium. Admission is free.
The Jean-Michel Pilc Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29, at Shryock Auditorium. The event is part of the Southern Illinois Symphony Series. Tickets are $10, $4.50 for SIUC students with a valid SIUC ID. Tickets may be ordered through Ticketmaster at 866/646-8849, at any Ticketmaster outlet, or in person at the SIU Arena ticket office or the Student Center central ticket office.
The three-time defending Gateway Conference champion and unbeaten Salukis open the 2006 conference schedule at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, at McAndrew Stadium against Indiana State. The Salukis are ranked No. 10 in The Sports Network’s Top 25 poll this week. Tickets are $17 for prime reserved seats and $14 for all other reserved and general admission seats. Prices are $8 for high school and younger. SIUC student tickets are free with a valid SIUC student ID on game day.
An expression wall that is part of GLBT History Month at SIUC will be set up Oct. 1-Oct. 31 in the dining halls of Trueblood and Lentz residence halls.
The Sylvia Smith Percussion Duo performs at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at Shryock Auditorium. Admission is free.
