Coming eventsThe Global Media Research Center sponsors a presentation by documentarian Bennie Klain of Trickster Films, at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, and Thursday, Sept. 27, in Browne Auditorium (Parkinson 124). Klain presents several screenings of his films, including "Return of the Navajo Boy," "Yada, Yada," "Weaving Worlds," and "Share the Wealth." The event is free, and open to the public.
Eric Bond, the Joe L. Roby Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University, presents a Vandeveer Speaker Series lecture on "Trade Liberalization and Collusion," at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, in Faner Hall, room 4135. Admission is free.
Charles M. Lieber, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, presents the 2007 Neckers Lecture at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, in Van Lente Auditorium (Neckers 240). Admission is free.

The undefeated Saluki football team — ranked No. 7 in this week's The Sports Network FCS Top 25 Poll — opens Gateway Conference play against Indiana State at noon, Saturday, Sept. 29, in Terre Haute, Ind. The game will be shown live on Mediacom, and by tape delay on FSN Midwest at 2 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 30.
The best marching bands in the region will compete in the "Music and Motion " high school marching band field show, beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29. The Marching Salukis are scheduled to take the field at about 3:30 p.m.

SIU men’s basketball season-ticket holders will be able to participate in a pre-sale for single-game tickets to all 2007-2008 home games, beginning at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3. Season ticket holders will receive their pre-sale code in the mail, and tickets may be purchased by entering the code on the ticketmaster Web site, or in person at the SIU Arena box office. Single-game tickets for SIU students are also being set aside. Single-game tickets for the general public go on sale Oct. 9. In addition, season tickets featuring wider seats in two upper bowl sections — designated as "Big Dawg" sections — are now on sale. Approximately 200 seats are available in sections GG and OO, with expanded seating from 17 inches to 19 inches. The seats are available $160; regular bench seating in the upper bowl is $150. No Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund donation is required to buy seats in these sections. Tickets are available at the ticket office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The impact of racial and gay comedy in American is discussed in "Racial & Gay Comedy: The Impacts?" at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the Student Centers Ohio Room. Admission is free. The event is sponsored by Latino Heritage Month and GLBT History Month.
