Open house is SaturdayAbout 450 prospective students, and their families, will be at SIUC on Saturday for the first of two scheduled open houses -- offering everyone on campus one of the many opportunities to help with recruitment and retention. In all, between 1,200 and 1,500 visitors are expected on campus this weekend, undergraduate admissions special events coordinator Angie Royal said. Faculty, staff and students greet and talk with the visitors about everything available on campus, from academic programs to the Student Recreation Center to housing and more. Open house activities include individual admission counseling sessions, academic program exhibits featuring faculty and advisers to answer questions, displays by many student organizations, workshops and guided tours of campus, residence halls and select academic departments. Another open house is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, at the Student Center. For more information or to assist in the open houses contact Royal at 618/453-2953.
