Coming eventsThe opening football game of the season, classical music for children through pre-kindergarten and an introduction for new faculty to the services of the Office of Research Development and Administration are among events on campus over the next week. The two-time defending Gateway Conference champion Salukis open the 2005 season at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, at Southeast Missouri State in nearby Cape Girardeau. Tickets are available at the Saluki ticket office at the SIU Arena, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are general admission and cost $7. Students from the School of Music will perform classical music for babies through pre-kindergarten children in Klassics for Kids, 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Altgeld Hall, Room 112. Performances are free. The second and third of three ORDA New Faculty Orientation workshops is Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Woody Hall, Room C-227. The identical workshops cover proposal and award processing and internal funding programs.
