Internal associate provost search under way

Provost and Vice Chancellor John M. Dunn is conducting an internal search to fill the position of associate provost for academic affairs.

The position is available July 1. Review of applications will begin on May 31 and continue until the position is filled.

The associate provost has primary responsibility for assisting Dunn in the oversight and management of academic and curriculum matters in a variety of areas, including:

  • Manage new program and degree requests.
  • Manage the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Resolve student grievances related to academic matters.
  • Oversee the collegiate and departmental program review and accreditation process.
  • Ensure timely completion of reports required by the Board of Trustees, Illinois Board of Higher Education and other agencies.
  • Chair the Undergraduate Teaching and Curriculum Committee.
  • Supervise the planning and allocation of academic facilities and space within all units reporting to the provost.
  • Advise the provost on all academic and curriculum matters.
  • Administer academic support programs reporting to the provost, which currently include: Clinical Center, Pre-Major Advisement, Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, Communication Across the Curriculum, University Core Curriculum and University Assessment Program.

Applicants should have a doctorate or appropriate terminal degree; credentials in teaching, scholarship/research/creative activity, and service consistent with the expectations of a professor at a four-year, research-extensive university; and at least departmental/program experience with management of undergraduate and graduate programs. Previous academic administrative experience is preferred.
