SIUC faculty, friends recognized as leaders

Several members of the SIUC family were selected by the Southern Business Journal as "Leaders Among Us" -- 14 Southern Illinoisans who positively impact their communities.

Those honored are:

Father Joseph Brown, director of the University’s Black American Studies.

James S. and Kathleen B. Fralish. Jim Fralish is an associate professor emeritus in Forestry, and a 1996 recipient of the Lindell W. Sturgis Memorial Public Service Award; Kathleen Fralish is founder of the Center for Comprehensive Services, and a 1999 recipient of the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

Samuel Goldman, professor emeritus in Educational Administration and Higher Education.

Chancellor Walter V. Wendler.

Harry L. and Rosemary Crisp. Harry L. Crisp II and his wife, Rosemary, of Marion, SIUC benefactors.

Bob Ferrari, longtime Herrin businessman, involved in Herrin and Williamson County economic development. Earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in administration from SIUC.

Don Welge, president and general manager, Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. in Chester; a member of the College of Business and Administration external advisory board.
