DPS reminder on emergency radio checksAny campus offices with hand-held emergency radio/scanner distributed in March 2005 are asked to contact the Department of Public Safety to ascertain if monthly tests are being heard. The tests are held at 10 a.m., the first Tuesday of each month. Contact DPS police officer Scott Miller via email to provide the information. In addition, if your department purchased radios on its own, DPS is asking for the radios' location, along with the make, model and serial number; a contact person and contact telephone number. The 150 hand-held emergency radios were distributed in buildings throughout campus more than two years ago; they are preset to receive information via DPS telecommunications. The transmissions are on a specific UHF frequency for emergency purposes only.
