"An Evening with Maya Angelou," is at 7:30 p.m., today, May 2, in the Student Center Ballrooms. Angelou is the author of many best-selling books, including, ‘I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings." Admission is free, but seating is limited. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. No recording/video/photos are allowed.
The SIUC Horticulture Society is holding a two-day Greenhouse Clearance sale that features tropicals, cactus, and hanging baskets Thursday, May 3, and Friday, May 4. The sale is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The sale is on the east side of the Agricultural Sciences building greenhouses.
The SIUC Concert Choir, Choral Union and Orchestra perform at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, featuring School of Music faculty pianists Heidi Louise Williams, and Jungwha Lee, and with Susan Davenport conducting. Admission is $4 for the general public; $2 for students.
The nationally ranked SIU women's softball team faces Wichita State in a doubleheader that starts at noon, Saturday, May 5, at Charlotte West Stadium. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and children. SIUC students are free with a valid SIUC student ID.
The Southern Illinois Children's Choir performs at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at Shryock Auditorium under the direction of Alice A. Berry, an assistant instructor in the School of Music. Admission is $5 for the general public; $3 for students.
The SIU women's softball team closes out the regular season when it faces Wichita State in the final game of a three-game series that starts at noon, Sunday, May 6, at Charlotte West Stadium. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and children. SIUC students are free with a valid SIUC student ID.
The Southern Illinois Chamber Music Society performs at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 6, at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship, 105 N. Parrish Lane. Admission is $13 for the general public; $2 for students.
