A play that explores the themes of myth, spiritual longing, faith, and freedom of choice; a dance concert highlighting faculty and student works, and the University Symphonic Band are among the activities on campus this week.

Dancing at Lughnasa, a play that mixes spontaneous dance and song, will be presented at McLeod Theater in the Communications Building. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. nightly, Wednesday, April 27 through Saturday, April 30, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1. Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for senior citizens 60 and older, $6 for SIUC students with a valid student ID, and $6 for children and non-SIUC students. The box office is open noon to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and one hour before each performance. To charge by credit card call 618/453-3001.

The Southern Illinois Repertory Dance Theater presents Dance Expresso, the spring dance concert that features faculty and student works, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30 at Shryock Auditorium. Tickets are on sale at the Student Center ticket office and at the door one-half hour before the show. General admission tickets are $7, children 15 and under, $3. There is no admission for SIUC students.

The University Symphonic Band and St. Louis Brass Band perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Shryock Auditorium. Thomas W. Bough, an assistant professor in the School of Music, is the conductor. Admisssion is $3 for the public; $2 for students.
