Inspiring Women nominations due June 30SIUC's Inspiring Women Program is accepting nominations for the 2008 Inspiring Women awards. Nominations are due by June 30. The program honors outstanding women who have made significant and lasting contributions to their communities and professions. Criteria for the awards include:
Four recipients will be selected. Honorees will be notified by early August, and honored during the fifth annual Inspiring Women Gala on Oct.18. Previous award recipients and their communities include: 2004: Dorothy Budell (Anna), Jackie Cox (Carbondale), Ethel Holladay (Du Quoin) and Jean Ellen Reynolds (Carterville). 2005: Elaine Melby (Marion), Margaret Nesbitt (Carbondale), Blanche Carlton Sloan (Carbondale) and Gloria Celesia Tison (Harrisburg). 2006: Gayla R. Borgognoni (Carbondale), Yolonde Peterson (Marion), Janet Proctor (Golconda) and Dixie Lee Travelstead (Du Quoin). 2007: Rosemary Berkel Crisp (Marion), Ella Phillips Lacey (Carbondale), Marsha Garwin Ryan (Carbondale) and Barbara Walton Throgmorton (Anna).
