Creating green space — Sam Goldman, SIUC interim chancellor, discusses the demoltion of a building at 1101 W. Chautauqua that once housed University offices. In all, 14 buildings are being razed this spring. After demolition, the University will turn the area — along South Elizabeth, West Mill, South Oakland, and West Chautauqua streets — into green space. The venture is a cooperative effort between SIUC, the city of Carbondale, and the Arbor District Neighborhood Association.
