SIRIS yard sale is SaturdaySpring is the perfect time for yard sales, and the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS) has one Saturday, April 22, that looks to have a bit of everything for everyone. The bi-annual yard sale is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1003 S. Oakland Ave., near the intersection of South Oakland Avenue and West Chautauqua Street. There will be plenty of CD's, vintage records, books, tapes electronics and household items available to take home. Proceeds benefit the continued operation of the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service. The Southern Illinois Radio Information Service is a non-profit organization that provides a reading-and-information service for blind, visually impaired, and print-disabled individuals. SIRIS programming is broadcast on a closed-circuit channel of WSIU radio’s main signal and is heard using a sideband receiver, which is available for free to qualified users in the area. Voice recordings are offered free of charge to anyone in our listening area who is unable to read normal printed material. For more information about the yard sale or SIRIS, contact Lisa Morrisette at 618/453-6185.
