University Open House is SaturdayAt least 400 prospective SIUC students are expected to participate in Open House activities on Saturday, April 16 -- offering everyone on campus one of the many opportunities to help with recruitment and retention. Activities start at 8 a.m. with check-in in the Student Center's International Lounge. Events include departmental exhibits, presentations covering admissions, financial aid, housing and Student Advisement Orientation Registration. The open house also includes presentations from current SIUC students discussing their experiences. Departmental tours begin at 11 a.m. and may last up to 90 minutes, and there are opportunities to meet with faculty. Twenty-one Saluki Ambassadors, current SIUC students, will accompany students on the respective tours. Noting that prosepctive students bring families and friends, undergraduate admissions special events coordinator Angie Royal expects between 1,000 and 1,500 visitors. There is still time for faculty and staff to participate in this weekend by calling Royal at 618/453-2953. The next open house is scheduled for July 22 at the Student Recreation Center. |
