'SIU Connections' features Morris renovations

The ongoing renovation at SIUC's Morris Library is the subject of SIU Connections: The Future is Now, airing Thursday, April 13, from 5-5:30 p.m. on WSIU-TV.

Morris Library, a centerpiece of the SIUC campus, is undergoing a massive $48 million renovation. Work is well under way on the project, which will include a 50,000-square-foot addition, better efficiency and updated technology throughout the nearly 50-year-old building.

SIUC Chancellor Walter V. Wendler will tour the building with David Carlson, dean of library affairs. Wendler also will tour McLafferty Annex, where the library is maintaining the availability of much of its collection during the five-year project.

Previous broadcasts featured the proposed Saluki Way, the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute, the Troutt-Wittmann Academic and Training Center, the refurbished Altgeld Hall, and the Student Health Programs facility. Future episodes will highlight the Transportation Education Center, Southern Illinois Research Park, the Wall Street/Grand Avenue Apartment Complex and other classroom improvements.
