Providing care -- Gaye L. Butler, a licensed practical nurse from West Frankfort, Jill E. Morthland, a licensed clinical social worker from West Frankfort, and Jenifer Chambless, a certified physician assistant from Simpson (left to right) are staffing the SIU School of Medicine's "Care-A-Van." The mobile health clinic is serving students at West Frankfort and Benton high schools. The 40-foot van is equipped with two examination rooms, a small laboratory and wireless Internet access. The van will be in the parking lot of each high school two days a week. Dr. Penny K. Tippy, professor of family and community medicine and director of the Medical School's Family Medicine Residency Program -- based in Carbondale -- organized the project with the assistance of $425,000 in grants from the Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation.
