Alumni Association plans Cubs-Cards trips

Members of the SIU Alumni Association are afforded many benefits including an opportunity to order tickets to watch one of the premier rivalries in American team sports.

The SIU Alumni Association will host its 24th annual SIU Day at Busch Stadium on Saturday, May 3 in St. Louis. The Association is also hosting its 31st annual SIU Day at Wrigley Field on Saturday, September 20 in Chicago. Both games feature the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs.

SIU Alumni Association members will have the opportunity to attend a pre-game social at the St. Louis Hilton at the Ballpark from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the 2:45 p.m. Cards-Cubs game at Busch Stadium. Association members will receive a Pavilion Box game ticket and enjoy a buffet featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches, cole slaw, baked beans, chips, cookies and brownies for $55.00 per person. To attend the buffet reception only is $30 per person.

SIU Day at Wrigley Field will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a pre-game social at the Cubby Bear Lounge, owned by Southern alumnus George Loukas. After the social, guests will walk across the street to Wrigley Field and watch the Cubs-Cards game at 12:05 p.m. Only $35.00 per person covers the costs of a Terrace Reserved Outfield section game ticket and one beverage at the Cubby Bear. A meal featuring chicken breast sandwiches, hot dogs, brats, corn on the cob, chips, cole slaw, and potato salad is available for an extra $12.00 per person.

Only SIU Alumni Association members are eligible to purchase tickets. A maximum of two tickets per member may be purchased for Busch Stadium Day beginning April 3. A maximum of four tickets will be available per member for Wrigley Field Day beginning April 17. Tickets may be ordered by calling the SIU Alumni Association office at 618/453-2408 (office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST) or by visiting siualumni.com. There will be no cancellations or refunds.

Membership in the SIU Alumni Association is open to alumni, students, and friends of SIUC. Annual individual membership is $40.00. Life membership is $500.00 with installment plans available.
