Several events to close Women's History MonthSIUC will mark the end of Women's History Month on Wednesday, March 28, with workshops, posters and presentations celebrating women's work. The free event takes place at the University Museum, located in the north end of Faner Hall, and features light refreshments. Posters, on display from noon to 6 p.m., summarize scholarly projects ranging from a comparison of interracial marriage with same-sex marriage to the use of deep-breathing meditation in reducing stress. All researchers have previously presented their material at regional or national professional meetings. A workshop on women and investments conducted by Andrea Turner, an investment representative from Edward Jones, will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. Pamela Smoot, a clinical assistant professor in black American studies at SIUC, will give a workshop examining the health of African-American women from an historical perspective from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Presentations of awards, from 5 to 6 p.m., cap off the afternoon. Representatives of University Women's Professional Advancement will announce the names of this year's faculty and administrative/professional women of distinction, while representatives from the Women's Studies program will announce the names of its scholarship winners. Event sponsors include the Women's Caucus, the Women's Studies Program, University Women's Professional Advancement, the University Museum and the Carbondale branch of the American Association of University Women. - K.C.
