Chancellor to visit McLeansboro, SpartaChancellor Walter V. Wendler will hold his fourth round of community conversations at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, when he visits Hamilton County Junior High School in McLeansboro. The meeting will take place in the building’s commons area. The visit is part of the ongoing series of "Your University, Your Community" discussions. The talks provide the University insight and feedback on various needs and expectations connected to higher education. Students, parents, teachers, school board members, local government officials, state legislators and community members are invited to the forums. The visits allow the University to discuss plans and projects on campus and provide a forum on how SIUC and the schools can further collaborative efforts to improve opportunities for all students. Outreach is part of SIUC's focus as outlined in Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the long-range plan for the University as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019. On April 1, Chancellor Wendler will be in Sparta to discuss these same issues in meetings with superintendents from Chester, Columbia, Coulterville, Red Bud, Sparta, Steeleville, Valmeyer, Waterloo and Prairie du Rocher during the monthly meeting of the Monroe-Randolph County Regional Office of Education. Chancellor Wendler will visit with students and staff at Sparta High School that afternoon.
