Coming events

The Southern Illinois Symphony Series and a benefit theater production to raise awareness regarding violence against women and girls are among the events on campus this week.

Maestro Edward Benyas leads School of Music faculty and orchestra members in two Brandenburg Concertos by J.S. Bach, and other Baroque favorites at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10. The performance is at Shryock Auditorium. Individual tickets are available through Ticketmaster by calling 866-646-8849, in person at the SIU Ticket Office or by phone at 453-2000.

The Department of Theater's Student Theater Guild is sponsoring a benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, for V-Day SIUC 2005. The performance is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10 at McLeod Theater. The event is also to raise funds for The Women's Center of Carbondale. V-Day T-shirts will be sold at the performance and a silent auction of artwork done by students and local residents will be held. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
