Five finalists for Student Center director

Five finalists are vying to replace T.J. Rutherford as director of the Student Center. Rutherford, who served as director for five years, retired Feb. 28 after 29 years with the University.

Two candidates already have completed on-campus interviews. Matthew K. Ducatt, director of the student union at California State University Bakersfield since June 2003, was interviewed on March 6. Kenneth H. Jaros, interim director of the Student Center and associate director of the facility since February 1997, interviewed earlier today.

Members of the University community may meet with the remaining candidates at 2 p.m. on the following dates:

  • James E. McDermott will visit campus on Friday, March 10, and will meet with members of the University community in the Corinth/Troy rooms at the Student Center. For the past 10 years, McDermott has served as business manager of Morris University Center at SIU Edwardsville.
  • Lori Lynn will visit on March 20, and meet with members of the University community in the Student Center's Illinois Room. Since 2002, she has served as director of campus life, which includes overall supervision of the student union, at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
  • Larry J. Ringgenberg will visit campus on April 3, and meet with members of the University community in the Student Center's Illinois Room. He has served as the director of student activities and centers at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the past 15 years.
