Kathleen E. "Kassie" Chaffee, a teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will attend a meeting of the Nobel Laureates in Germany this summer at the invitation of the National Science Foundation. Chaffee is a member of the student delegations supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science, the National Science Foundation Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences and the Oak Ridge Associated Universities. The meeting is set for June 24-30 in Lindau, Germany. Chaffee's work at SIUC involves magnetic resonance spectroscopy. She uses the same basic technology involved in medical magnetic resonance imaging to examine the structure and dynamics of molecules.
