Former U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix presents a lecture today at 5 p.m. in Student Center Ballrooms C and D. Blix, who is chairman of the International Commission on Weapons of Mass Destruction, will present the 2007 SIU School of Law Hiram H. Lesar Lecture. The lecture is free and open to the public.

 

Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, "Lost in Yonkers," will be performed at today at 7:30 p.m. in Shryock Auditorium. Tickets are $26, $20 for senior citizens 60 and older and children 15 and younger. Tickets may be ordered through Ticketmaster at 866/646'8849, at any Ticketmaster outlet, or in person at the SIU Arena ticket office or the Student Center central ticket office.

 

Jyotika Ramaprasad, an associate professor in the School of Journalism, discusses her social marketing work in Africa and India with "AIDS: A Gendered Epidemic," at 6 p.m. today in the Communications Building, Room 1201. The event is part of Women's History Month. Admission is free.

 

Fatima Sadiqi, a senior professor of linguistics and gender studies at the University of Fes, Morocco, presents "Islam and the Women's Movement in Morocco," at 3 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in the Student Center Mississippi Room. Sadiqi was also recently appointed to the U.N. Economic and Social Council, and is a visiting professor at Harvard Divinity School. Admission is free. The event is part of Women's History Month.

 

The SIUC Egyptian Suzuki School, under the direction of Paula M. Allison, an assistant instructor in the School of Music, performs from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall. Admission is free.

 

Joe Khalil, a doctoral candidate in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, presents a lecture on "Communicating Conflict Globally: Lebanese Youth and the Quest for Peace," at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in the Communications Building, Room 1032. Admission is free.

 

The Saluki men's baseball team hosts Youngstown State in a two-game series this weekend at Abe Martin Field. SIUC plays at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, and at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 11. Admission is free.
