Wei Zhang, an assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering, has been awarded a $100,000 grant by The National Science Foundation (NSF) to support his research in studying a heterogeneous multi-core architecture and its compiler support for automatically improving the performance of single-threaded programs. The success of this project is likely to ease and accelerate the transition to multi-core processor-based systems.
