James Warfield, an architect educator and professor emeritus at the University of Illinois, will present a lecture on Architectural Studies and Interior Design at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 1) in Browne Auditorium in Parkinson Hall. His work will also be on display in in an exhibit at University Museum following the lecture.

 

The Saluki women's basketball team hosts Indiana State at 7:05 p.m., Thursday, March 2, at the SIU Arena. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and kids. SIUC students are free with a valid SIUC student ID.

 

The SIUC Concert Choir, under the direction of Susan Davenport Stewart, performs at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 2, at Unitarian Fellowship, 105 N. Parrish Lane, Carbondale.

 

The Saluki women's basketball team hosts Illinois State at 2:05 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at the SIU Arena. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and kids. SIUC students are free with a valid SIUC student ID.

 

"Just Tri It!" a seminar on preparing for the Doc Spackman Triathlon, is set for 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 5, in the Student Recreation Center Alumni Lounge. The cost is $10 per person. To reserve a spot, email Cynthia Fligel or call her at 618/309-1619.

 

Mozart and the Butterfly Lovers Concerto, part of the Southern Illinois Symphony Series, will be performed at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Shryock Auditorium. Tickets are $18; $12 for senior citizens 60 and older and children 15 and younger. Tickets are available at the SIU Ticket Office in the SIU Arena or the Student Center Central Ticket Office. Tickets may also be ordered by phone at 618/453-2000, or through Ticketmaster at 866/646-8849.

 

The Saluki men's baseball team, off to its best start since 1970, has several games at Abe Martin Field over the next week. Admission is free. Upcoming games are:

  • Northern Illinois: 2 p.m., Friday, March 3; 1 p.m., Saturday, March 4, and 1 p.m., Sunday, March 5.
  • South Dakota State: 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, and 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 8.

 

The Saluki women's softball team opens its home schedule this weekend with the annual Kay Brechtelsbauer Southern Classic. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for faculty, staff, senior citizens and high school students and younger. SIUC students are free with a valid SIU student ID. Upcoming tournament games at Charlotte West Stadium are:

  • Saturday, March 4: Noon, Illinois-Chicago; 4 p.m., Iowa.
  • Sunday, March 5: Noon, Northern Illinois; and a bracket play game later in the day.

 

The women's softball team also hosts Southeast Missouri State for a doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Charlotte West Stadium.
