High school officials visiting campus todayHigh school board members, superintendents, principals and guidance counselors are visiting campus today as part of Chancellor Walter V. Wendler's continuing effort to reach out to the region's communities and school districts. The visit is designed to further encourage cooperation and communication between the University and the schools. More than 100 high school officials are coming from districts within a 45-minute drive of Carbondale. They will attend a dinner at the Student Center, followed by a "Your University, Your Community"-style presentation by Wendler. The chancellor is visiting school districts throughout the region this semester under that banner, using the visits to discuss plans and projects at the University and to learn how SIUC and the schools can further collaborative efforts to improve opportunities for all students. The high school contingent will then attend this evening's men's basketball game against Northern Iowa at the SIU Arena. |
