Financial Aid candidates to visit campus

Three candidates vying for the position of director of the Financial Aid office will visit campus next week.

Billie Jo Hamilton will be on campus on Tuesday, March 1. An open availability for faculty, staff, students and constituency groups to meet Hamilton is set for 3-3:50 p.m. in the Student Center Ohio Room.

Hamilton is director of financial aid at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. Prior to assuming that post in 2001, Hamilton spent three years as associate director of financial aid at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Previous experience included three years as financial aid director at the University of Tennessee-Memphis health science center, and 14 years as director of financial aid at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Hamilton earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and master's in business administration, both from Pittsburg State University.

Donna Williams, interim director of SIUC's Financial Aid office, will spend Wednesday, March 2, participating in the interview process. An open availability for faculty, staff, students and constituency groups to meet Williams is set for 3-3:50 p.m. in the Student Center Ohio Room.

She is a 22-year employee of the University. Her experience includes two years as an accountant I in the Coal Research Center, a little more than a year as an accountant II in Accounting Services, six years as an accountant III in the Financial Aid office and 12 years as an accountant IV in Financial Aid.

Williams, who received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from SIUC in 1982, became interim director last October.

The third candidate, Dorothy Brody, will visit campus on Thursday, March 3. The open availability for the campus community to meet Brody is set for 3-3:50 p.m. in the Student Center Ohio Room.

Brody has been assistant vice president for student financial support & services at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa., since 2001. Her background includes four years as a financial aid advisor IV at Governors State University, a year as associate director of financial aid at North Carolina A & T State University, a year as director of financial aid at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and a year as director of financial aid at Tuskegee University.

Brody received a bachelor's degree and a master's of public administration degree, both from Governors State University.
