King Recognition Week food drive successful

The 2007 Martin Luther King, Jr. Recognition Week Food Drive was a success thanks to the generosity of the SIUC community.

The Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Carbondale received seven cases of food from University organizers, who collected 140 canned goods in boxes placed across campus during the week of Jan. 16.

Carl W. Ervin, student development coordinator, said, "speaking on behalf of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Recognition Week organizers, sincere thanks and gratitude are extended to the SIUC community members for their generous donations to a worthy cause and for help in bringing attention to and support for addressing the needs of the poor and less fortunate, which is a vital but often overlooked part of Dr. King's legacy of social justice."
