Acclaimed photographer returns to SIUC Feb. 21Have the winter doldrums? Would you like to escape on a vacation? Take a trip through the lens of internationally renowned nature photographer and SIUC alumnus Tom Ulrich, who will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in room 161 in Lawson Hall. Ulrich will show his work photographed during 2005 in the Falkland Islands, Glacier National Park and sites around North America as part of his presentation titled "Wildlife Photography of the Falkland Islands and North America." The presentation is co-sponsored by the SIUC Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society, SIUC Zoology Club, Department of Zoology, and the Southern Illinois Photographic Society. A freelance photographer since 1975, Ulrich is highly acclaimed around the world for his nature photography skills. Many of his more than 350,000 transparencies have been used by numerous magazines and other publications. Ulrich received a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from SIUC in 1971. He taught biological sciences at Fairfield Community High School from 1971 to 1975 and also taught photography, local flora, botany, zoology, general biology, biochemistry, and anatomy and physiology at Frontier Community College. |
