Sociology professor Robert D. Benford received recognition from the American Sociological Association for co-authoring one of the most influential articles in his discipline. The article, "Frame Alignment Processes, Micromobilization, and Movement Participation," written with David A. Snow, E. Burke Rochford, Jr. and Steve K. Worden, has been cited 525 times since it was published in the "American Sociological Review" in 1986. It is one of only 18 articles since the founding of the journal in 1936 to qualify for this elite "ASR 500 Club." Benford is president elect of the Midwest Sociological Society and is in charge of organizing the society’s conference this year in Minneapolis.
