Memorial service set for professor Lewis Hahn

A memorial service for late Professor Lewis E. Hahn, a renowned Southern Illinois University Carbondale philosopher and editor, will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Unitarian Fellowship (105 N. Parrish Lane) in Carbondale.

SIUC was Professor Hahn’s academic home from 1963 to his death at age 96 on November 23, 2004. He served on the University’s philosophy faculty for 14 years, as research professor and director of graduate studies from 1963 to 1974 and as research professor from 1975 to 1977.

Although he retired in 1977, he continued working as visiting professor at the University and as editor of the Library of Living Philosophers from 1981 to 2001.
