SIUC hosts open house Feb. 19More than 300 prospective students and their families will converge on the SIUC campus Monday, Feb. 19, for an open house that includes both talks and tours. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. at the Student Center on Lincoln Drive, with an early-bird campus tour departing at 8:15 a.m. and welcome activities getting under way at 9:30 a.m. An information fair, featuring exhibits by various academic and service units, begins at 10 a.m. and includes presentations designed for both students already admitted to the University and those who have yet to decide where they’re going. Other sessions will focus on financial aid, choosing a major and transferring from another school. Some colleges and departments will offer individual tours at noon or 1 p.m.; campus and residence hall tours will be given at selected times throughout the day. While students may come to the open house without pre-registering, admissions officials encourage them to do so. They will accept online pre-registrations through Feb. 12. To register electronically, visit the office Web site, select the "Visit Campus" link, scroll down to and download the pre-registration form. For more information, email or call Admissions and Special Events Coordinator Pam Wilkins at 618/453-2992. - K.C. Jaehnig
