'Love My Prairie Heart Road Show' begins

Prairie Heart Institute-Memorial Hospital of Carbondale invite all SIUC employees to take advantage of the upcoming “Love My Prairie Heart Road Show.”

Prairie Heart-Memorial Hospital will visit several Southern Illinois communities over the next couple of months to see which one is most enthusiastic about their heart health. Each event will run from 8 a.m. to noon and will feature free heart-healthy screenings for cholesterol (registration required), peripheral vascular disease, sleep apnea and diabetes, as well as heart disease risk assessment.

Also planned are fun activities, including: Healthy Cooking, 10K A Day — Walk Your Way to Heart Health, Colorful Choices — Put Color on Your Plate, Get Moving and Get Your Heart Pumping, and Kids on the Heart Healthy Path.

There also will be an interactive panel discussion with heart specialists at each stop, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

  • Feb. 10 — Herrin High School
  • Feb. 24 — West Frankfort Aquatic Center
  • March 3 — Murphysboro, Gen. John A. Logan School
  • March 24 — Anna-Jonesboro High School
  • March 31 — Harrisburg High School
  • April 14 — Du Quoin K-8 school
  • April 21 — Marion High School
  • May 5 — Benton Civic Center

There will be a special finale later in May in Carbondale.
