A glimpse into our past — Retired SIUC employee Will Travelstead of rural Cobden, SIU President Glenn Poshard, Library Affairs Dean David H. Carlson, and SIUC Interim Chancellor John M. Dunn look at a photograph Tuesday, Jan. 30, that depicts the original Old Main Building — the first building on what is now the SIUC campus. The building opened in 1874 and burned in 1883. The Travelsteads bought the photograph at an estate auction last spring and donated a print from an electronic scan of the photograph to Morris Library.
