A faculty recital by School of Music assistant professors Eric Lenz (cello) and Junghwa Lee (piano) is at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Mark R. Dibben, an associate professor at Monash University in Gippsland, Australia, delivers a lecture on "The Nature of Human (Experience and) Organizations: A Whitehead Perspective," at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, in Faner Hall, room 2059. The lecture is part of the Department of Philosophy's Colloquium Series. Admission is free.
Visiting artist Brad Schweiger, associate director for the School of Art and a professor at Ohio University, presents workshops, a lecture, and a gallery exhibition. Schweiger, a ceramicist, presents a lecture at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, in Lawson Hall, room 171. The Surplus Gallery in the old Glove Factory hosts a ceramics exhibition Feb. 4-8, featuring about a dozen of Schweiger's ceramics. The workshops are for SIUC students in the ceramics program and are set for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Carol Golembowski, an assistant professor of visual arts at the University of Colorado Denver, presents her series of black and white photographs, "Psychometry," in this lecture sponsored by the Department of Cinema & Photography's Visiting Artist Series. The lecture is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, in Lawson Hall, room 161. Admission is free.
The SIU men's basketball team plays at Northern Iowa at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, in a Missouri Valley Conference game. The MVC Television Network will televise the game.
Ron Coulter, a lecturer in the School of Music (percussion) and Sam West (spoken word) perform at 8:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, in Altgeld Hall, room 112. The event is part of the Southern Illinois Improvisation Series. Admission is free.
Students from the School of Music and guests perform classical music for babies through pre-kindergarten children in Klassics for Kids, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Altgeld Hall, Room 112. Performances are free.
The SIU men's basketball team hosts Missouri Valley Conference rival Indiana State at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the SIU Arena. Tickets in the upper bowl are $12 for adults, and $8 for children; $13 in the Big Dog section. Lower level seating is sold out.
