Variety of discounts available

Are you taking full advantage of the benefits available through the University's Employee Discount Program? Savings are available in a variety of ways - some of which you may not be aware of - including lodging, travel, cellular telephones and even moving expenses. In many instances, benefits extend to emeritus employees, spouses, children, students and alumni. Travel-related discounts are generally not restricted to University business. Most often, the discounts can be used for vacations and family outings.

Human Resources continues adding new accounts as they are available.

Below is a sample of what you can find. In addition, more information is available at Discounts.

Lodging: Most hotel rooms will grant the state hotel room rate to University employees for personal travel.

Auto rental: National Car Rental provides discounted rates.

Cellular phones: Verizon offers employees 18 percent off current monthly packages. First Cellular is offering free activation for employees and emerita along with the unlimited plan at the $34.99 monthly rate when signing up for new service.

Dell computer: Employees may contact 710 Bookstore for current prices, and are eligible to receive the University’s pricing on the models listed in the University’s Dell contract. Employees can receive up to 13 percent off advertised Dell prices for models not under the University’s Dell contract. Shipping is free for orders placed through 710 Bookstore.

Boise: Employees are eligible for the University’s pricing, but are charged for shipping.

UPS: Employees are eligible for the University’s pricing; shipping must be arranged through the UPS Web site.

Moving companies: Discounts vary with each company, and are available to employees, faculty, students, retirees and alumni. Participating companies are: Allied Van Lines, Cord North American Moving & Storage, Dodge Mayflower Transit, Inc., Graebel Van Lines and United Van Lines, Inc.

Business and Theme Parks: Discounts are available for Busch Garden, Six Flags, Club USA, Cypress Gardens, Disney Quest/Chicago, Holiday World, Royal Caribbean International, Sea World, Universal Studios, Wet ‘n Wild. Check with Human Resources for the correct procedure in obtaining discounts.
