iTunesU workshop is Friday

The College of Mass Communication and Media Arts is sponsoring a workshop on Friday, Jan. 25, by Apple Computer that serves as the kickoff for iTunesU at SIUC.

The workshop is 1-4 p.m. in the University Museum Auditorium

Gary P. Kolb, interim dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, is encouraging college officials, faculty and appropriate staff from across the campus to attend the workshop. The hope is that within a short time SIUC will be utilizing iTunesU to enhance Web presence and student's learning.

Apple is asking that those attending pre-register, and is providing a free box lunch before the presentation in the auditorium lobby for those pre-registering. Pre-registration is available here

The presentation will include using iTunesU as a content distribution system for classes, extra-curricular materials and lectures. The presentation will also detail some of the successful strategies employed at other institutions using iTunesU as part of their curriculum delivery and enhancement activities.

The presentation will also focus on creating content for iTunesU using the Podcaster software built into the new Leopard operating system, and using the iLife suite of software, including iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD, and Garage Band, to produce podcast content.
