Coming eventsA forum on social justice is set for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Student Center's Mississippi Room. "Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere: A Forum on Social Justice," brings together student leaders, faculty, staff and community members to share their thoughts. Admission is free. The event is part of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Recognition Week.
Local leaders gather to offer reflections on past and present challenges for achieving the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the MLK Recognition Week Closing Ceremony, "Then and Now," at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, in the Student Center Ballroom B. Admission is free.
The SIU women's basketball team hosts Creighton at 7:05 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at the SIU Arena. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, youths, faculty and staff. SIUC student tickets are free with a valid SIUC student ID on game day.
The SIUC men's and women's swimming teams host a dual meet against Missouri State at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Student Recreation Center's Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium.

SIUC political science associate professor Stephen C. Shulman will discuss "Open versus Closed Borders: The Ethics of Immigration Restrictions," when he delivers the first speech in the Frank L. Klingberg Endowed Professorship in International Relations Public Lecture Series. The event is at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the Student Center Auditorium. Admission is free.
