Undergrad assistantships requests sought

SIUC's financial aid office is accepting undergraduate assistantship position requests for the 2008-09 academic year. This innovative program provides undergraduate students with a paraprofessional employment opportunity. Students work directly with a faculty member or professional level staff person in a position related to their career/academic discipline. A copy of the undergraduate assistantship policy is available here.

All University departments are encouraged to consider potential undergraduate assistantship opportunities for the 2008-2009 academic year — fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters. Positions that were approved for the current school year are not automatically renewed for the 2008-09 school year. Recipients must re-apply and compete for funding. The undergraduate assistantship application and position description form is available on the AIS E-forms Web site. Applications should be sent to Terri Harfst, academic scholarship coordinator, mailcode 4702

The deadline for departments to submit applications is Feb. 22. A University committee will review the applications and select positions to be funded. Approved positions will be posted to the financial aid office's Web site in April.
